General Purpose
Attend to visitors by greeting, welcoming and directing them appropriately. Deal with inquiries face-to-face and on the phone. Supply information regarding the organization to the general public and clients.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Answer phones and transfer calls to the appropriate employees
Greet and assist visitors and escort them to an office or meeting room
Offer guests something to drink
Handle questions about the business or offer brochures with business information
Screen sales leads/referrals
Take messages and make sure they get to the appropriate employees
Accept and sign for packages
Mail preparation and distribution
Scan documents and file
Support office staff by making copies, filing, scanning and faxing
Data entry
Take minutes during meetings
Maintain a pleasant appearance of the reception area
Maintain the confidentiality of clients
High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures
Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
