Composite Materials Technology Lead Instructor / Industry Liaison

Instructor will prepare students for occupations or functions such as reinforced composite design, fabrication, structural repair and finishing. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and College partners. Success of an instructor includes the ability to: collaborate, simplify, communicate, advocate, celebrate success, build trust, empower others, and improve the College community and its programs.
As the Lead Faculty member, additional job duties and requirements are included. The Lead Instructor is primarily responsible for curriculum development and ensuring that this is current in meeting the latest trends, technology and needs of the industry. Must also maintain current, state-of-the-art training skills in composites, fabrication and manufacturing technology. Additional focus on building relationships, partnerships and outreach with business / industry leaders is expected. Works as a liaison with employers to promote jobs and careers for students.
1. Provides instruction, monitors progress and advises students.
2. Promotes job readiness and assists students in finding employment.
3. Provides leadership to the Employer Advisory Committee.
4. Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and incorporating Advisory Committee input on curriculum.
5. Oversees program budget.
6. Fosters a productive learning and training environment.
7. Encourages and exemplifies professionalism and good work habits and leadership.
8. Maintains and implements a classroom management plan consistent with College policy.
9. Interacts with students in an atmosphere of open communication.
10. Develops partnerships and creates relationships with new companies.
11. Builds and maintains a program that is supported by students and industry.
12. Coordinates student recruitment and program promotion with the Public Relations/Marketing Department.
13. Proactively sponsors/supports a chapter of the designated student Leadership organization.
14. Works cooperatively as a leader within the College community. Serves on committees and participates in off-campus events.
15. Actively participates as a team member and acts as Team Leader.
16. Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science or related field required.
A minimum of five years of recent, related work experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for qualification.
Prior teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships.
Must have open, positive communication skills with ability to foster a productive learning environment.
Position requires ability to work a flexible schedule, and may require evening and weekend hours.
Must satisfy Utah State Office of Education (USOE) licensing requirements, and/or requirements by accrediting body.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
